Primark trousers

I bought these trousers approximately a year and a half ago in Primark, as I am looking for new clothes to start off the new year and my next semester at university. They appear to be wide-leg trousers and are also high waist. I picked this out simple because it was one of the few trousers that felt slightly unisex compared to the others. I could not find much information on how this was made as it came with no inner labels, which is most likely a result of fast fashion, as companies are looking for the cheapest route to make clothes to sell. Which brings in the morality of buying clothes like this.
Why as a society are we (to some extent) forced into buying cheaper clothing that takes unethical decisions to make more profit. How come the vast majority of people cannot afford clothing that isn’t a result of fast fashion? This possibly a result of there needing to be a noticeable gap in appearance between the poor, middle class, and the wealthy.
Personally, I dislike shopping for clothes, primarily women’s clothes. A reason for buying this over anything else is because it is one of the few trousers that hides my body. Unlike most clothes advertised towards women that make it their goal to show as much skin or outline the figure on whoever’s wearing it.  This obviously doesn’t apply to all women’s clothing, but I often notice that the majority of clothes use “slim” to describe themselves, especially when looking at trousers.
