Breif
For this project we are tasked with choosing between 4 options: Editorial, Narrative Fiction, picture book for early readers, song lyrics.
Personally I found the picture book options most interesting.
For the picture book option we were given 3 choices of narratives to illustrate for.
- A modern update of the Brothers Grimm classic Rapunzel
- Rudyard Kipling's The cat that walked by himself
- The nursery rhyme Solomon Grundy

The story is an attempt to explain how certain animals were domesticated by humans to a younger audience. For example, the horse, the cow, the dog, sheep, pig and cat. Though the story implies that cats domesticated themselves instead of being domesticated by humans, which to some extent is true. As cats (since they would look vastly different in the palaeolithic era and would be a predator to humans) began to domesticate themselves in the Ancient Egyptian era by killing off vermin, protecting the crops and preventing some diseases. Egyptians worshipped cats for this, and would create Gods of them. I think the story is trying to portray this by having the cat outsmart the humans multiple times and look down on other animals.
