My first attempt at this style was to paint outside my window, Although I didn't think I caught his style very well in the piece as it felt too realistic. Si I tried again with a pot of artificial flowers and I think it looks a bit better.

Alan lee

This is a attempt of painting in the style of Alan Lee, using watercolour. I'm ok with how this one turned out Although it definitely looks too stylised. 

john singer sargent 

My attempt at painting in the style of John Singer Sargent. I'm happy with how this turned out, there is definitely many flaws here, considering the face proportions are off and my tone and colouring needs a lot of work. But I think it's okay for a first attempt. I learned a lot trying to paint in his style, such as how to sculpt the face by adding dark tones first and adding lighter details later. The size of brush you would use with is usually a big brush for his style. The amount of paint needed when adding detail and which colours are used where.
